Mi Quang originates from the land of Quang Nam – Da Nang, known as the “cradle of Central flavors”. The name “Mi Quang” originates from this very region, reflecting the close bond between the dish and the rustic, hardworking life of the Quang people. According to many culinary records, this noodle dish was born from the cultural blend between Vietnamese and Chinese traditions, when migrants brought traditional noodle-making techniques, which were then skillfully adapted by the Quang people using distinct local ingredients.

Unlike regular noodles made from wheat flour, Mi Quang is crafted from rice, finely ground, rolled into thin sheets, and manually cut into strands. The ingredients of the dish also truly reflect the “seasonal eating” spirit of the ancient Central people using whatever was available, from river shrimp, pork, garden herbs to fragrant roasted peanuts. That very rustic nature creates an unforgettable subtlety. Over hundreds of years, Mi Quang has transcended the scope of a regional dish to become a culinary icon of Central Vietnam, loved by domestic and international tourists as a “flavor of home”.
