Pepper cultivation in Phu Quoc has a long history, brought by Hainanese people for reclamation and farming. Over hundreds of years, pepper plants have adapted perfectly to the soil and climate here, turning Phu Quoc into the area with the largest pepper-growing surface in Southwestern Vietnam with over 700 farming households.
Pepper is mostly concentrated in areas from Duong Dong Ward to Ganh Dau, creating eye-soothing green stretches spanning over 15km. Far from being just a pure agricultural product, pepper gardens today have become a must-visit eco-tourism destination, where visitors can immerse themselves in a peaceful space and learn about the meticulous manual production process.
