The "Lonely Tree" of Quang Tri is located in Huong Linh Commune, Huong Hoa District, Quang Tri Province, right on the banks of the Rao Quan Hydropower Lake – a large artificial lake created by a hydroelectric project. This ancient tree stands alone in the vast space, with a lush green canopy and a sturdy trunk, creating an emotional natural picture. Surrounding it are wind turbines spinning rhythmically against majestic mountains, combined with the peaceful lake surface, giving the feeling of stepping into an ink wash painting.
According to local sources, this tree has existed for decades, witnessing the transformation of Khe Sanh – once a fierce battlefield during the Vietnam War. Today, it has become a symbol of revival and sustainable development in Quang Tri, especially with the blend of pristine nature and renewable energy from wind farms. Not only is it a stunning spot to watch the sunrise, but it is also a "soul-healing" destination for visitors, with cool air, gentle breezes, and scenery reminiscent of a miniature Europe, thanks to the nearby sweetgum forest turning red in winter.
