Quang Tri has a tropical monsoon climate, experiencing all four seasons: Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter, but most notably and distinctly divided into two main seasons: the dry season and the rainy season.
Dry Season
Usually lasts from around February to August. Key characteristics of this season include:
- High temperatures: Sunny and hot weather, particularly intense from June to August due to the influence of the hot, dry Southwestern wind (Lao wind). The average temperature can reach up to 29°C, with peak hot days exceeding 40°C.
- Low rainfall: Precipitation during this period is low.
- Low humidity: Dry air.

Rainy Season
Usually lasts from around September to January of the following year. Characterized by:
- Heavy rainfall: Frequent and concentrated rain, especially in September, October, and November. This period carries a high risk of storms, floods, and flash floods.
- Drop in temperature: Cooler weather compared to the dry season, particularly cold during the late months of the year and early next year (December, January). Temperatures can drop below 22°C in the plains.
- High humidity: Humid air.
- Influence of the Northeast Monsoon: Winds from the North bring cold, moist air.
