Cambodia Tour: Siem Reap – Phnom Penh (4 days 3 nights)

Detailed itinerary

• NIGHT 01: HO CHI MINH - MOC BAI - SIEM REAP (Lunch, Dinner)

  • 04:00 AM: The bus and tour guide pick up the group at the meeting point and depart for Siem Reap. Have breakfast at Trang Bang. Arrive at Moc Bai border gate, complete exit procedures for Vietnam and entry procedures for Cambodia. Continue departing to Siem Reap, passing through provinces: 
  • Lunch: Guests have lunch in Kampong Cham. On the way, admire sugar palm tree forests and fields stretching out as far as the eye can see. 
  • Kompong Thom: Stop at Prey Pros to visit the arm of Tonle Sap Lake.
  • En route, stop to visit the ancient Kompong Kdei Bridge - Dragon Bridge built of laterite stone over eight hundred years ago. Here, guests can enjoy local specialties: palm sugar honeycomb cake, shop for handicrafts... On the way to Siem Reap city, admire the fascinating view of locals cooking bamboo sticky rice along the villages.
  • Dinner: Arrive in Siem Reap, enjoy a BBQ buffet dinner with a diverse and attractive menu, check into the hotel, and rest. Explore the city at night.

• DAY 2: EXPLORE ANGKOR WAT COMPLEX (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

  • Morning: Have a buffet breakfast at the hotel. The vehicle and tour guide take the group to visit the South Gate of Angkor Thom, a vast ancient city with unique sculptures and patterns, built by King Jayavarman VII in the late 12th century. The city covers 9 km², containing many temples from earlier periods as well as temples built by Jayavarman and his successors. Highlighted spots include:
  • South Gate of Angkor Thom: Featuring 4 main gates and 1 auxiliary gate - known as the "Victory Gate", it is approached from the outside via a causeway extending about 50 meters across a moat. On each side of the causeway is a balustrade decorated with 54 statues, participating in depicting a famous Hindu legend: the myth of the "Churning of the Ocean of Milk". 
  • 4-faced Bayon Temple with mysterious smiles: This is the most impressive temple of Cambodian mountain-temple architecture due to the grandeur of its scale, consisting of 54 large and small towers, each sculpted with the face of God Lokesvara (or Avalokitesvara), symbolizing divine watchfulness over the 4 directions of Cambodia.
  • Ta Prohm Temple: Famous as the backdrop for Hollywood's "Tomb Raider" movie.
  • Lunch:  Lunch at a local restaurant, then return to the hotel to rest.

  • Angkor Wat Temple is a temple complex in Cambodia and the largest religious monument in the world, covering 162.6 hectares (1,626,000 square meters). Khmer King Suryavarman II built Angkor Wat in the early 12th century. Initially built as a Hindu temple for the Khmer Empire, it gradually transformed into a Buddhist temple by the late 12th century. It is also a world wonder known as the largest Hindu temple in the world, recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site in 1992.
  • Tonle Sap Lake or Cambodian Great Lake is a combined lake and river system of immense importance to Cambodia. It is the largest freshwater lake in Southeast Asia and was recognized by UNESCO as a World Biosphere Reserve in 1997. (at own expense).
  • Dinner: Return to Siem Reap City for dinner at a restaurant, then return to the hotel to rest. Evening free to explore Siem Reap at night: Siem Reap Night Market, traditional massage (at own expense)

• DAY 3: SIEM REAP - INSECT MARKET - PHNOM PENH (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

  • 07:00 AM: Breakfast at the hotel, check out and depart for the capital Phnom Penh. En route, visit the Insect Market and local specialties such as: crickets, giant water bugs, spiders, click beetles, soft-boiled duck eggs, cashews...
  • Lunch: Have lunch in Phnom Penh Capital, visit:
  • Royal Palace: official residence and workplace of the reigning King
  • Silver Pagoda: famous for the Emerald Buddha, Golden Buddha statue, Silver tiled floor... 
  • Visit Wat Phnom Temple
  • Note 1: Wear sleeved shirts/tops without low necklines, and skirts/dresses must cover below the knees when visiting the Royal Palace. 
  • Note 2: The Royal Palace reserves the right to close for visits without prior notice.  
  • Dinner: Enjoy dinner. Then return to the hotel to rest. Free to explore the capital at night: Try your luck at Cambodia's largest casino – NagaWorld, tourist street, night market, Diamond Island (Koh Pich), cruise on the Four Rivers area at Chaktomuk River Square: here you can enjoy a panoramic view of the Four Rivers where the Mekong River flows into Phnom Penh then splits into Tien and Hau rivers of Vietnam and flows back into Tonle Sap Lake - Southeast Asia's largest freshwater lake and a UNESCO-recognized World Biosphere Reserve, with a total area of 2,700 km2 (at own expense). Overnight in Phnom Penh Capital. 

• DAY 4: PHNOM PENH - HO CHI MINH (Breakfast, Lunch)

  • Morning: Have breakfast at the hotel and check out.
  • 08:00 AM Group visits:
  • Cambodia Independence Monument
  • Shopping at Central Market (Phsar Thmey), Gem Center.
  • Lunch:  Have lunch at Tonle Bassac II Buffet Restaurant in Phnom Penh. Depart for the border gate, complete entry procedures into Vietnam
  • Afternoon: Arrive in Ho Chi Minh City, end of tour – See you again.
