Leaving behind the smoke and fire of Quang Tri, the journey continues to take you to Quang Binh - where nature is a lively symphony of mountains, forests, rivers, streams, and majestic caves.
Detailed itinerary
06:00 AM – Departure from Hue
The car and tour guide pick up the group in central Hue City. Begin the journey to the frontline land of Quang Tri – once a fierce battleground during the resistance war against the US.
07:30 AM – Quang Tri Ancient Citadel
Stop at the Ancient Citadel – a historical witness to the 81-day-and-night battle in the summer of 1972. The guide explains the citadel's strategic location, the fierce battles, and the great sacrifices of thousands of soldiers to hold the defense line.
08:30 AM – Depart for Route 9 – Dakrong Bridge
The vehicle takes the group along National Highway 9 – a strategic route connecting East and West Truong Son, which was a vital military transport artery during wartime.
10:00 AM – Visit Dakrong Bridge
Stop at Dakrong Bridge – a symbol of the legendary Truong Son Road. Here, you will learn about the role of this route in transporting weapons and food supply to the Southern battlefield.
10:30 AM – Ta Con Airfield (Khe Sanh)
Continue to Khe Sanh to explore Ta Con Airfield – a major US military base and the site of a 170-day battle in 1968. Observe war artifacts, airstrips, bunkers, and remaining defensive fortifications with your own eyes.
11:30 AM – Lunch at a local restaurant
01:00 PM – Transfer to Vinh Moc Tunnels
Head north toward Vinh Linh coastal area – where local residents lived, fought, and survived underground throughout the years of the war of destruction.
03:00 PM – Visit Vinh Moc Tunnels
Explore the unique 3-story tunnel system nearly 2km long – once an "underground village" for over 60 households and local troops. Witness the living spaces, meeting areas, medical stations, kitchens… right underground.
04:00 PM – Transfer to Hien Luong Bridge – Ben Hai River
The vehicle carries the group onward to the historical bridge that divided North and South Vietnam for over 20 years.
05:00 PM – Visit Hien Luong Bridge – Ben Hai River
Listen to presentations about the 17th Parallel, a symbol of the pain of division and the aspiration for national reunification. Take photos at the historical site with highlights such as the 17th parallel marker, exhibition house, loudspeakers…
06:00 PM – Stop at La Vang Holy Land
Take check-in photos at La Vang Holy Land, then get back on board to transfer to Dong Hoi City for hotel check-in.
07:30 PM – The car and guide take you to a restaurant to enjoy dinner at a local establishment.
08:00 AM – Enjoy breakfast at the hotel. Afterwards, the car and tour guide will pick you up to depart for Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park, a World Natural Heritage site. On the way, the tour guide will introduce the history, culture, and signature landscapes of Quang Binh land.
09:30 AM – Arrive at the Phong Nha Cave tourist area, beginning your journey to explore the “First Wonder of Caves” – one of the most beautiful and famous caves in the Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park system. Board a boat cruise upstream on the poetic Son River, enjoying the tranquil scenery and peaceful countryside along both banks.
The boat takes you deep into Phong Nha Cave to admire the magical stalactite system formed over millions of years of geological formation. Unique rock formations resemble lions, fairies, royal palaces, chandeliers...
Phong Nha Cave has a surveyed length of up to 7,729 m, of which an underground river section of over 1,500 m can be navigated by boat – making it one of the longest water caves in the world.
12:00 PM – Rest and enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. 01:30 PM – Depart for the Chay River – Dark Cave tourist site, continuing the journey to explore the pristine nature of Phong Nha – Ke Bang.
- Participate in kayaking on the Chay River with its stunning turquoise water, weaving past towering limestone cliffs.
- Visit the Dark Cave area, enjoy the cool atmosphere inside the cave, and experience unique natural mud bathing.
- Have fun with exciting activities: river ziplining, ziplining into the cave, free swimming…
04:00 PM – Board the bus to depart back to Hue City. End of the program, farewell and see you again on future journeys with Sovaba Travel.
