APEC Park Da Nang – The New Symbol of the Most Livable City

APEC Park Da Nang is located on 2 Thang 9 Street, Binh Hien Ward, Hai Chau District – a prime "golden" location right in the city center. The park lies adjacent to the west bank of the Han River, just about 200m south of Dragon Bridge and next to the extended Bach Dang Street. The total area is 8,668 m², designed on a unique triangular plot of land, making it easily accessible from anywhere in Da Nang.

• How to get there: It takes only 10–15 minutes from Da Nang Airport, and about 5 minutes on foot or by motorbike from Dragon Bridge. You can take a taxi, Grab, or central bus route. The park features a spacious underground parking area, making it very convenient for self-driving visitors.

APEC Park is not an overnight construction project. Originally, in 2017, on the occasion of the APEC Economic Leaders' Week in Da Nang, the city built the APEC Sculpture Garden covering an area of 3,047 m² with 21 artistic sculptures from 21 APEC member economies. The garden was inaugurated on November 9, 2017, becoming a meaningful cultural gift from the host nation, Vietnam.

By 2020–2021, Da Nang invested in expanding the park with a total budget of approximately VND 759 billion. The project was upgraded into a modern APEC Park and officially inaugurated on January 10, 2022. This expansion not only increased the area but also added community spaces and an iconic dome canopy, turning it into a "new symbol" of the most livable city. The most prominent architectural highlight is the "Soaring Kite" dome canopy made from 200 tons of steel, curving multi-dimensionally with a covered space underneath of up to 790 m². The design is inspired by a kite – a symbol of high-soaring aspirations, freedom, and the flying spirit of Da Nang's people.

The park is divided into 3 levels:

• Basement: Parking and technical facilities.
• 1st Floor: Tourist information area, souvenir counter, skylight atrium, and rest area.
• 2nd Floor: Open space under the dome canopy with lawns, water features, an artificial waterfall, winding walkways, and green gardens.

The entire structure harmoniously blends modern architecture with nature, complemented by an artistic night lighting system creating a magical effect. The park also received the Silver Award at the National Architecture Awards 2022–2023 for its creative and sustainable design.

APEC Park is a perfect combination of art, nature, and culture. The biggest attraction is the APEC Sculpture Garden featuring 21 sculptures representing APEC member economies (e.g., "The Origin" from Vietnam, "Cloud Boat" from the USA, "River Merchant" from Brunei...).
