The Dragon Bridge is the 6th bridge (and one of the newest iconic bridges) spanning the Han River, marking a strong step forward in Da Nang's urbanization. The bridge originated from an international design competition organized by the City People's Committee in late 2005, attracting 8 consulting firms from Vietnam, Japan, Germany, and the US. The winning design belonged to the joint venture of The Louis Berger Group and Ammann & Whitney Consulting Engineers (USA).

The bridge is coated with 5 layers of yellow anti-corrosion paint, combined with 15,000 color-changing LED lights creating a sparkling effect at night. The total weight of the dragon section is nearly 9,000 tons, turning the Dragon Bridge into a modern architectural masterpiece that blends advanced engineering with Vietnamese cultural values.

At 9:00 PM every Saturday and Sunday, the dragon's head breathes fire in two turns, nine times per turn, before switching to spurting water to create an impressive artificial rain.

Under the brilliant lights, the image of the steel dragon breathing fire in the night creates a spectacular scene, transforming the Han River into a vibrant stage of light.
