1. Location of Son Tra Tinh Vien and how to get there

Son Tra Tinh Vien is located in Sub-zone 64, Luong Huu Khanh Street, Tho Quang Ward, Son Tra District, Da Nang City. Nestled deep in the valley of the 4,400-hectare Son Tra Nature Reserve, this site is about 10km northeast of the city center, making it convenient to combine with Son Tra tours.

To get here, you can choose the route from the Dragon Bridge: follow Vo Van Kiet Street, turn right onto Vo Nguyen Giap, continue along the coastal road to Hoang Sa, then turn onto Le Van Luong and Luong Huu Khanh. The road is quite flat and spacious, but note the regulation banning automatic scooters near Linh Ung Pagoda, prioritizing manual motorbikes or cars (stop at the foot of the mountain and walk if necessary). Travel time takes only 20-30 minutes, and you should ask locals for directions to avoid getting lost in small alleys.

2. Venerable Thich The Tuong’s passion for Vietnamese bamboo

In the past, this area was just a wild land covered with reeds and vines. Through perseverance and passion, Venerable Thich The Tuong gradually transformed the landscape: digging ponds, building walkways, planting trees, and especially collecting hundreds of rare bamboo species from various domestic and international regions. Among them are unique species such as square bamboo, endangered black bamboo, white bamboo, red bamboo, along with many bamboo varieties gifted from India, Tibet, and other countries.

Currently, Son Tra Tinh Vien covers an area of about 2 hectares and is considered the largest "living bamboo museum" in Da Nang. Originally a private place of practice, it has now become a "living museum" educating visitors about the cultural and ecological value of bamboo – a plant closely tied to Vietnamese life since ancient times. Each bamboo species is tagged with a nameplate and introductory information, allowing visitors to both enjoy a relaxing stroll in the lush green space and gain deeper insights into the cultural, ecological, and symbolic significance of bamboo in Vietnamese life.
