The peak of Pa Thien - Voi Mep (also known as Ta Linh Son) is currently the most emerging and attractive trekking route in Quang Tri. This is the highest mountain in the province, with the Voi Mep peak standing at approximately 1,700 - 1,800m. The area belongs to the Bac Huong Hoa Nature Reserve, Huong Phung commune, Huong Hoa district.
Highlights:
- A journey through biodiverse primary forests, streams, waterfalls, rocky slopes, and mossy forests.
- Voi Mep Peak features a giant elephant-shaped rock, panoramic views of the Southwestern Quang Tri mountains, wind farms, and a magical sea of clouds (especially in the early morning or drizzly season).
- Historical relics: Some spots still preserve war remnants.
- Suitable for: Intermediate trekkers and above who love adventure and untouched nature.
Itinerary details (based on pilot tours):
- 2-day 1-night tour: Around 6.5 km (forest entrance - rock field - Pa Thien - Voi Mep).
- 3-day 2-night tour: Around 8.8 - 9 km.
- Starting point from Huong Phung commune, about 70-80 km from Dong Ha. Each group is limited to 25 people to protect the environment.
Ideal time: November to April (dry season), avoiding rains and floods. You can admire bell-blossoms, red maple-like maple leaves, or mossy forests in the appropriate seasons.
