Currently, Da Nang Museum manages three facilities, including the main campus, the Da Nang Fine Arts Museum at 78 Le Duan, and a campus at 281 Phan Boi Chau. Da Nang Museum has a journey of formation and development paralleling the transformations of the urban area by the Han River. From a modest exhibition facility, the museum gradually expanded its scale, collecting and preserving many historical and cultural values, becoming an important destination in learning about Da Nang through the ages. In 1989, the predecessor of the museum was established under the name Quang Nam – Da Nang Provincial Museum, located at 78 Le Duan.

During the 2005–2011 period, the city invested in building a new facility at 24 Tran Phu, creating more space for exhibition activities and public service. By the end of 2016, the old City Hall at 42 Bach Dang was oriented to be converted into an exhibition space for the Da Nang Museum, opening a new chapter in combining architectural heritage value with historical conservation work. On March 28, 2025, the new facility at 42–44 Bach Dang and 31 Tran Phu was officially inaugurated, welcoming visitors starting April 1, 2025; in the initial phase, the museum applied a free admission policy. From July 3, 2025, the museum implemented new opening hours and ticket prices according to the resolution of the Da Nang City People's Council.

In particular, the building at 42 Bach Dang possesses a distinct value: construction began in 1898 and was completed in 1900 based on the design of a French architect, having held many important roles in the history of Da Nang's urban development. From the French colonial era, through the political upheavals of the mid-20th century to the period after 1975, the building has remained present as a quiet witness to the times. Therefore, today the building is not only a place to preserve and showcase artifacts, but itself is also regarded as a “living artifact”, contributing to creating historical depth and special attraction for the Da Nang Museum space.

Da Nang Museum currently preserves more than 27,000 valuable documents and artifacts, of which nearly 3,000 selected artifacts are displayed across 9 major themes.
