Cuc Phuong National Park (or Cuc Phuong Forest) was established on July 7, 1962 under Decision 72-TTg of the Prime Minister. It is the first national park in Vietnam, located on the border of three provinces: Ninh Binh, Hoa Binh, and Thanh Hoa, with a total area of about 22,200 - 22,408 hectares. The main gate is located in Cuc Phuong Commune, Nho Quan District, Ninh Binh Province.
The park is nestled deep in the Tam Diep Mountain Range, belonging to a semi-covered karst (limestone) terrain, with coordinates from 20°14' to 20°24' North latitude and 105°29' to 105°44' East longitude. Located about 120-130 km south of Hanoi, Cuc Phuong can easily be combined with famous Ninh Binh tourist destinations such as Trang An, Bai Dinh, or Tam Coc.
Outstanding Biodiversity:
More than 2,234 species of vascular plants (many rare species, medicinal plants, and edible plants).
About 135 mammal species (including the Delacour's langur – the symbol of the park), 336 bird species, 122 reptile and amphibian species, and nearly 2,000 insect species.
Many caves containing prehistoric human traces (about 7,500 - 12,000 years ago) and precious fossils.
Cuc Phuong not only conserves nature but is also an important environmental education and scientific research center.
